A LITTLE THING

Getting late for a meeting, need to run', he said, as he slung his coat over the shoulder, and bounded out of the house.

As he drove away, she came running down the stairs two at a time. 'wait, wait', she said, but he had already left.

Her mouth crumpled like used wrapping paper. 'He forgot to give me a goodbye kiss', she whispered in a voice that tumbled under the weight of her hurt.

She called him, 'You left without giving me a kiss', she said accusingly. 'I am sorry sweetheart', he said, his voice contrite. 'It is okay', she said, trying to be all grown up as she cut the call.

She gulped down her breakfast morosely, wore her shoes, picked up her school bag and started to walk out of the door, her shoulders slumped.

As she climbed down the steps, the car glided to a stop outside the house. He got out of the car. She ran to him, her whole face lit up like a Christmas tree.

'I am sorry I forgot', he said as he picked her up and hugged her. She said nothing. Her jaw ached from smiling.

Fifteen years later, no one would remember he was late for a meeting, but a little girl would never ever forget that her father drove all the way back home just to kiss her goodbye!

IT'S NOT A COINCIDENCE, IT'S A REFLECTION

"A Son and his father were walking on the mountains. Suddenly, his son falls, hurts himself and screams:

"AAAAhhhhhhhh!!!!!"

To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain:

 "AAAAhhhhhhhh!!!!!"

Curious, he yells: 'Who are you?' He receives the answer. 'Who are you?'.
And then he screams to the mountain: 'I admire you!'. The voice answers, 'I admire you!'.

Angered at the response, he screams: 'Coward!'. He receives the answer: 'Coward!'. He looks his father and asks: 'What's going on?'.

The father smiles and says:

"My son, pay attention'. the man screams: 'You are a champion'. The voice answers: 'You are a champion'.

The boy is surprised, but does not understand then the father explains:

'People call this ECHO, but really this is LIFE.

It gives you back everything you say or do. Our life is simply a reflection of our actions. If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart. If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence.

This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life. Life will give you back everything you have given to it"

MORAL: "Your life is not a coincidence. Its a reflection of you!".

STOP BEING A GLASS, BECOME A LAKE.

Once an unhappy young man came to an Old Master and told he had a very sad life and asked for a solution.

The old Master instructed the unhappy young man to put a handful of salt in a glass of water and then to drink it.

"How does it taste?" the master asked.

"Terrible" spat the apprentice.

The Master chuckled and then asked the young man to take another handful of salt and put it in the lake. The two walked in silence to the nearby lake and when the apprentice swirled his handful of salt into the lake.

The old man said, "Now drink from the lake".

As the water dripped down the young man's chin, the Master asked, "How does it taste?"

"Good!" remarked the apprentice.

"Do you taste the salt?" asked the Master.

"No" said the young man.

The Master sat beside this young man, took his hands and said:

"This pain of life pure salt; no more or no less. The amount of pain in life remains the same, exactly the same. But the amount we taste the 'pain' depends on the container we put in into. So when you are in pain, the only thing you can do is to enlarge your sense of things. Stop being a glass. Become a lake"

"STOP BEING A GLASS, BECOME A LAKE".

PUT THEM DOWN

The Professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it. He held it up for all to see and asked the students "How much do you think this glass weighs?".

'50 grams!... 100 grams!... 125 grams!'... the students answered.

" I really don't know unless I weigh it." said the professor, "but, my question is:
What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?"

'Nothing'... the students said

'Ok what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?' the professor asked.

'Your arm would begin to ache' said one of the student.

"You're right, now what would happen if I held it for a day?"

"Your arm could go numb; you might have severe muscle stress & paralysis & have to go hospital for sure!"...
Ventured another student & all the students laughed.

'Very good.

But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?' asked the professor.

'No'... was the answer.

"Then what caused the arm ache & the muscle stress?"

The students were puzzled.

"What should I do now to come out of pain?" asked professor again.

"Put the glass down!" said one of the students.

"Exactly!" said the professor.

Life's problems are something like this.

Hold it for a few minutes in your head & they seem OK. Think of them for a long time & they begin to ache.

Hold it even longer & they begin to paralyze you. You will not be able to do anything.

It's important to think of the challenges or problems in your life, BUT EVEN MORE IMPORTANT is to "PUT THEM DOWN" at the end of every day before you go to sleep...

That way, you are not stressed, you wake up every day fresh & strong & can handle any issue, any challenge that comes your way!

MORAL: So, Before starting your day, remember to ''PUT THE GLASS DOWN''.

WHAT TO PUT FIRST ?

A professor of philosophy came into his class. He brought some items with him and put them on the table. When the class began, he took a large transparent empty jar and started to fill it with rather massive stones. Then the professor asked his students :

"Is the jar full?" They confirmed that it was.

Now the professor picked up a box of small pebbles, poured them into the jar and shock it, so that pebbles filled the open areas between the rocks. He asked once again:

"Is the jar full?" They confirmed that it was.

This time the professor poured a bucket of sand into the jar, and the sand filled up everything else.

"Now" said the professor, "I want you to see that this jar is just like your life :-

The stones are the most important things, your main vales - your family, health, morality.

The pebbles are other things that matter - your job, house, car.

The sand represents the small stuff.

So, if you put the sand into the jar first there would be no place left for pebbles and large stones. Therefore pay most of your attention to the things, that are the most important in life - spent enough time with our family, take care of your health, and don't forget to develop spiritually -  be kind, honest, sensitive and helpful.

These are the things that really matter. They should be your priorities.
The rest is just sand".

7 WONDERS OF WORLD

A group of students was asked to list what they thought were the present Seven Wonders of the World. Though there was some disagreement, the following got the most votes,

  1. Taj Mahal
  2. Egypt's Great Pyramids
  3. China's Great Wall
  4. Eiffel Tower
  5. Empire State Building
  6. Panoma Canal
  7. St.Peter Basilica.
While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one quiet student hadn't turned in her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list.

The girl replied, "Yes, a little I couldn't quite make up my mind because there were so many"

The teacher said, 'Well, tell me what you have, and maybe we can help"

The girl hesitated, then read,

" I think the Seven Wonders of the World are :-
  1.  To touch
  2. To taste
  3. To ask
  4. To hear
  5. To feel
  6. To laugh
  7. And to love.
"Simple and Ordinary things of our life are the Real Wonders".

A gentle reminder that the most precious things are before you;
Your Family, Your Faith, Your Love, Your good health and Your Friends.

ORIGIN OF THE SAYING "LOVE IS BLIND"

It is Originated from GREEK MYTHOLOGY.

It's the story of Cupid (the god of love) And Psyche.

Psyche was one of the most beautiful woman in her land and men came to catch a glimpse of her from far away lands, this started to anger Aphrodite. The goddess of Beauty and the mother of Cupid as people used to once come to her temple in such large numbers but now Psyche was getting all the attention. So she asked her son to use one of his arrows to make her fall in love with the ugliest man in the realm. Cupid is an obedient son, went to shoot an arrow at Psyche as he spotted the ugliest man in the crowd outside her house, but the moment he saw her, he dropped the arrow which fell on his foot and made him fall in love with her. But he couldn't marry her because that would really anger, his mother and well, also because he was a god and she was a human!

Meanwhile the Psyche's father was worried because everyone wanted to see Psyche or meet her, but no man wanted to marry her (well because, men!) So he went to Zeus' temple to ask for advice and Zeus decided to play Cupid's wing man so the oracle told Psyche's father that she was fated to marry a demon and he was supposed to leave her on a mountain peak on a moonless night so that he could take her away to his land. He freaked out a little, but after a lot of emotional drama he left her at the mountain for her destined husband to pick her up. She obviously couldn't see who he was because it was dark, he took her to a place above the clouds which was totally dark.

He explained the rules of their marriage to her that since he's a demon(self conscious one), he doesn't wish for her to see him so he would only visit her at night when all the lights are out and also, she couldn't make any contact with her family (control freak demon) And during the day, invisible servants would take care of all her needs. He also told her that he would leave her if she ever tries to see his face. Win win for Cupid!

So night after night he visited her and she obviously got a feeling that he's not a demon, but hiding something else (because, you know, he felt like a person probably with decent enough features) And she also got bored in the lonely place, so she coaxed him one day to let her talk to her sisters and allow them to visit. So they came, got a little jealous of her palace and her demon husband who was surprisingly very caring and told her to hold a lamp over his face when he sleeps one night to see how he looks like. So she did exactly that, knowing well that he would leave her if she's caught, because she just had to know what he was hiding. She realized that he was Cupid, the most handsome god and not an ugly demon. Win win for Psyche!

But cupid woke up and startled her, making the hot oil from the lamp fall into his eyes. He got really angry with her for breaking her promise and spilling oil into his eyes and he left, despite everything she tried.
Psyche tracked cupid down and he was living with his mom who obviously didn't like her and thus instead of saying no to her, she promised that she would allow her to see Cupid if she completes a bunch of impossible tasks, just to toy with her! Out of love and desperation, she accomplishes everything and gets to see Cupid and discovers that he is blind because of her. Long story short, he forgives her, family matters sorted out and they live happily ever after.

But Cupid found love himself and he is blind now so he runs around hitting anybody with arrows at any time and sometimes he forgets to hit the other person all together!

MORAL: This love is blind shouldn't be translated in the romantic sense that people don't care about looks, but in the sense that love is chaotic madness and the person who once brought soul mates together is running around blind with love arrows

Be Motivated :-)

One of the picture that Inspired and Motivated me a lot.

TWO MONKS

Two monks were on a pilgrimage one day, they came to a deep river. At the edge of the river, a young woman sat weeping, because she afraid to cross the river without help. She begged the two monks to help her. The younger monk turned his back. The members of their order were forbidden to touch a woman.

But the older monk picked up the woman without a word and carried her across the river. He put her down on the far side and continued the journey. The younger monk came after him, scolding him and berating him for breaking his vows. He went on this way for a long time.

Finally, at the end of the day the older monk turned to the younger one, "I only carried her across the river. You have carrying her all day".

MORAL : The older monk act according to the situation and to him the woman was a human being in need of help. The younger monk is totally caught himself by the  words of the books, to him the woman looked young and beautiful.

SILENCE

Once there was a farmer who discovered that he had lost his watch in the farm. It was not an ordinary watch, because it had sentimental value for him. After searching the hay for a long while, he gave up and call the help of a group of children playing outside the barn. He promised them that, the person who found it, would be rewarded.

Hearing this, the children hurried inside the barn, went through and around the hay but still couldn't find the watch. Just when the farmer was about to give up looking for his watch, a little boy went up to him and asked to be given another chance.

The farmer looked at him and thought, "Why not.? After all, this kid looks sincere enough.
So the farmer sent the little boy back in the barn. After a while the little boy came out with the watch in his hand.

The farmer was happy and surprised and so he asked the boy how he succeeded where the rest has failed. The boy replied, "I did nothing buy sit on the ground and listen. In the silence, I heard the ticking of the watch and just looked for it in that direction".

MORAL : A peaceful mind can think better than a worked up mind. The challenge is to silence the mind.

A GLASS OF WATER

When the train stopped on a railway platform, a Boy who was selling water passed by. A man sitting by a window called him "Come here Boy". The boy came running. He filled a glass of crock, served it to the man. The man asked,

"What is the price ?
"25 paisa", the boy replied.

The man inquired, "Will you give it to me for 15 paisa ?

Listening to this, the boy smiled lightly, poured water back into his crock and walked away. A saint observing this incident was perturbed by the boy's enigmatic smile. He was rattled and felt rustled. He got down and started walking towards the boy.

He asked, "Hey boy! wait. Tell me why did you smile ?"

The boy replied, "That man was not thirsty. He just wanted to know the price for one glass of a water I couldn't suppress my smile."

"But what makes you say so that he wasn't".

The boy calmly replied, " O Sir, those who are thirsty don't negotiate for rate. They take glass first, drink water and later how much to pay ? If they ask rate first, they aren't thirsty".

MORAL : Those who are thirsty don't fall prey to negativity or absurd questions. If you don't trust something don't talk about it. And if you trust it, there is no reason for absurdity.

AM I USELESS ?

Once there lived a man who fetches water from a nearby pond to his master who lived on a hill. He fetches water in two pots tied up at two ends of a long stick, which rest on the shoulder with two pots at ends. One of the two pots has a leak that whenever this man fills it up near the pond and by the time he reaches his master's house, the water in the leaking pot would become one - fourth whereas the other pot was intact.

That was the daily routine and still the man didn't change the damaged pot. One day the damaged pot asked this man :-

Pot : Oh man ! I am a worthless pot and I always leak. You throw me away as I'm good at nothing and get a new one like another which is intact.

Hearing this, Man laughs and asks the pot to keep calm and observe the adjacent region on the left of the road they take every day.

The pot obeys and watches the barren land with no beautiful flowers until they reach the master's house.

Pot : What is there in that land ? I just found barren land with grass and dust.

To which the man Smiles contently and ask the pot to watch the other side of the road.

The pot notices a beautiful garden with full of flowers and it gave a fresh look.

Pot : Wow ! This is a Picturesque beauty, can't even believe.

Man : You should believe my pot, because it is the beauty made by you ! Everyday when we pass through this road you water those plants whose seeds I have sown. You watered it and made it a Incredible reality.

MORAL : Never underestimate yourself. You may not fit to do some pointed things, but you can make some small wonders.

IS THE STRING MATTERS ?

Father is flying a kite, His son is watching him carefully, After some time son says "Dad, Because of the string the kite is not able to go any further higher".

Hearing this, the father smiles and breaks the string. The kite goes higher after breaking of the thread and then shortly after that it comes and falls on the ground. The child is very dejected and sad.

The father sits next to him and calmly explains, "Dear Son, in life we reach a certain level of prosperity and then we feel that there are certain things in our life that are not letting us grow any further like Home, Family, Culture, Relations, Friendship etc.,

We feel we want to be free from those strings which we believe are stopping us from going higher. But, remember son -  Going higher is easier than staying at the higher level.

And Family, Culture, Relations, Friendship etc., are the things that will help us stay stable at the high heights that we have achieved. If we try to break away from those strings our condition is similar to the kite."

AN EXCHANGE

A boy and a girl were playing together. The boy had a collection of marbles. The girl had some sweets with her. The boy told the girl that he will give her all his marbles in exchange for her sweets. The girl agreed. The boy kept the biggest and the most beautiful marble aside and gave the rest to the girl. The girl gave him all her sweets as she had promised.

That night, the girl slept peacefully. But the boy couldn't sleep as he kept wondering if the girl had hidden some sweets from him the way he had hidden his best marble.

MORAL: If you don't give your hundred percent in a relationship, you will always keep doubting if the other person has given his/her hundred percent.

IS THE GLASS HALF FULL OR HALF EMPTY ?

THE BATA SHOES STORY :

This story perhaps holds one of the simplest yet most profound and important messages of all, for all of us.

At the end of the nineteenth century, just as colonial Africa was opening up as a market, all the manufactures of shoes in Victorian England sent their representatives to Africa to see if there might be an opportunity there for their wares.

All duly came back in time with the same answer.
"Nobody in Africa wears shoes. So, there is no market for our products there."

But the Bata representative came back saying, "Nobody in Africa wears shoes. So, there is a huge market for our products in Africa !"

And that's why signs promoting Bata appear all over Africa, even in the remotest of spots. It's why Bata's shoes are known as the Shoes of Africa.

MORAL: It's all about how we look at things and how we see them. It illustrates why being good at looking is a quality well worth cultivating.

THE COMMENT

A young couple moves into a new neighborhood. The next morning while they are eating breakfast, the young woman sees her neighbor hanging the wash outside.

"That laundry is not very clean, She doesn't know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap."

Her husband looks on, remaining silent. Every time her neighbor hangs her wash to dry, the young woman makes the same comments.

A week later, the woman is surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and says to her husband : "Look she finally learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this ?"

The husband replies, " I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows"

MORAL : What we see when watching others depends on the clarity of the window through which we look.

THE APPROVAL

Jack and Max are walking to the church, to pray. Jack wonders whether it would be alright to smoke while praying Max replies, "Why don't you ask the Priest? So, Jack goes up to the Priest and asks, "Father, may I smoke while I pray?"

The priest  replies, "No, my son, you may not ! That's utter disrespect to our religion"

Jack goes back to his friend and tells him what the good Priest told him.
Max says, "I am not surprised. You asked the wrong question. Let me try."
And so Max goes up to the Priest and asks, "Father, may I pray while I smoke?"
To which the Priest eagerly replies, "By all means, my son. You can always pray whenever you want to."

Moral : The approval you want depends on the way you ask for it.

PEACE OF MIND

Once, Buddha was walking from one town to another town with a few of his followers. This was in the initial days. while they were travelling, they happened to pass a lake. They stopped there and Buddha told one of his disciple, I am thirsty. Do get me some water from that lake there. The disciple walked up to the lake. When he reached it, he noticed that some people were washing clothes in the water and right at that moment, a bullock cart started crossing through the lake.

As the result, the water became very muddy, very turbid. The disciple thought, How can I give this muddy water to Buddha to drink ! So he came back and told Buddha, the water is very muddy. I don't think it is a fit to drink.

After about half an hour, again Buddha asked the same disciple to go back to the lake and get him some water to drink. The disciple obediently went to the lake. This time he found that the lake had absolutely clean water in it. The mud settled down and the water above it looked fit to be had.
So, he collected some water in a pot and brought it to Buddha. Buddha looked up at the water, and then he looked up at the disciple and said,

See what you did to make the water clean. You let it be.... and the mud settled down on its own and you got clean water. Your mind is also like that, when it is disturbed, just let it be. Give it a little time. It will settle down on its own. You don't want to put in any effort to calm it down. It will happen. It is effortless.

Having 'Peace of Mind' is not a strenuous job, it is an effortless process.

A TURN ON THE SCREW

There was a industrialist whose production line inexplicably breaks down, costing him millions per day. He finally tracks down an expert who takes out a screwdriver, turns one screw, and then - as the factory cranks back to life. The expert presents a bill for Rs.10,000.

Affronted, the factory owner demands an itemised version. The expert is happy to oblige:
For turning a screw: Rs.1,
For knowing which screw to turn: Rs.9,999.

THE FENCE

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the fence. The first day the boy had driven 32 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily, gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.

Finally, the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested to pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.

The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one." You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. But, It won't matter how many times you say I am Sorry, the wound is still there.

Make sure you control your temper the next time you are tempted to say something you will regret later.

THE HEDGEHOGS

It was the coldest winter ever. Many animals died because of the cold. The hedgehogs, realizing the situation, decided to group together to keep warm. This way they covered and protected themselves ; but the quills of each one wounded their closest companions.

After awhile, they decided to distance themselves one from the other and they began to die, alone and frozen. So, they had to make a choice: either accept the quills of their companions or disappear from the earth.Wisely they decided to go back to being together. They learned to live with the little wounds caused by the close relationship with their companions in order to receive the heat that came from the others and by this way, they survived.

The best relationship is not the one that brings together perfect people, but when each individual learns to live with the imperfections of others and can admire the other person's good qualities.

POUND OF BUTTER

There was a farmer who sold a pound of butter to the baker. One day the baker decided to weigh the butter to see if he was getting a pound and he found that he was not. This angered him and he took the farmer to court.

The judge asked the farmer if he was using any measure. The farmer replied, Your Honor, I am primitive. I don't have a proper measure, but I do have a scale. The judge asked. Then how do you weight the Butter ? The farmer replied, Your Honor long before the baker started buying butter from me, I have been buying a pound loaf of bread from him.

Everyday when the baker brings the bread, I put it on the scale and gave him the same weigh in butter. If anyone is to be blamed, it is the baker.

"We get, What we give".

MEANINGLESS GOALS

A farmer had a dog who used to sit by the roadside waiting for vehicles to come around. As soon as one came it would run down the road, barking and trying to overtake it.

One day, a neighbor saw the activity of the farmer's dog and when to the farmer and asked, Do you think your dog is ever going to catch a car ? The farmer looked deep into the eyes of the neighbor and replied,

That is not what bothers me. What bothers me is what he would do if ever caught one.
Many people in life behave like that dog pursuing meaningless goals.

"Life is hard by the yard, but by the inch, it's cinch."

LIKE TO BE REMEMBERED

About a hundred years ago, a man looked at the morning newspaper and to his surprise and horror, read his name in the obituary column. The news paper had reported the death of the wrong person by mistake. His first response was shock. Am I here or there ? when he regained his composure, his second thought was to find out what people had said about him.

The obituary read, Dynamite King dies. And also He was the merchant of death. The man was the inventor of dynamite and when he read the words merchant of death, he asked himself a question, Is this how I am going to be remembered ? He got in touch with his feelings and decided that this was not the way he wanted to be remembered.

From that day on, he started working toward peace. His name was "ALFRED NOBLE". and he is remembered today by the great 'NOBLE PRIZE'.

Just as Alfred Noble got in touch with his feelings and redefined his values, we should step back and do the same. How would you like to be remembered ? will you be spoken well of ? will you be remembered with love and respect ? will you be missed ?
